  • In this CNC Machining program, learn the basics of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining with hands-on training using Haas CNC lathes and mills. You will be introduced to G-code, M-code and CNC controllers and have the opportunity to practice tool setup, offsets, feeds and speeds with actual shop projects. In addition, you will gain understanding of CNC safety procedures and shop practices. NOTE: This is not a CAD/CAM class.

    Participants will gain:

  • Learn the entry level skills required to start a career in plumbing. This course is designed to prepare students in safety issues and practices, personal protective equipment, use of critical safety information, and confined-space safety. Students will be introduced to plumbing tools, applicable math as well as plumbing drawings, interpretation and application to layout and installation. Further, students will look at various pipe and fittings as well as all of the fixtures and water systems encountered on the job.

  • This program is designed to prepare learners to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Learners will become familiar with all aspects of blood collection and will review the skills needed to perform venipunctures safely.

    Topics in this course include:

    • Medical Terminology
    • Related anatomy and physiology
    • Blood collection procedures
    • Procedures for collection of other types of specimens within the scope of the phlebotomist

    After completing this program, learners:

    • Have the opportunity to take the leading national/industry recognized certification exam(s) essential to entry-level employment in this fast-growing field.
    • Are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization.

  • This program focuses on broad, transferrable skills, including an understanding of heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation industry, and demonstrates elements of the industry such as planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, the underlying principles of technology, and health safety, and environmental issues.

    Learners should obtain EPA certification prior to leaving school in order to be employed in any job that requires work with refrigerants.

    Instruction includes a combination of classroom theory and practical experience.

  • This program provides students the entry level skills required to start a career in automotive repair and maintenance specifically for diesel-powered equipment. The program is delivered through an intensive hands-on lab approach, allowing students to concentrate on practical skills and execution alongside supplemental online curriculum.

    Students will become proficient in preventive maintenance and inspections by performing procedures in electrical, brakes, lubrication, hub seals, HVAC, Aftertreatment systems, and diagnostics equipment.

  • The program prepares learners for entry-level positions as a chair-side dental assistant. This program covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure (primary and permanent teeth), the oral cavity, and other areas.

    The purpose of this program is to familiarize learners with all areas of administrative and clinical dental assisting, focusing on the responsibilities required to function as an assistant in a dental practice.

  • DASA: New York State’s Dignity for All Student’s Act (Dignity Act) seeks to provide NYS public elementary and secondary school students with a safe, supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is a NYSED-approved provider of the Dignity Act certification training.
    The required training consists of a 6-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.

  • Mandated reporters can participate in this web-based online training course at any time, 24/7. Users must complete the course within the course duration which is the current school calendar year (2024-2025). Users learn definitions, indicators, and how to make a report to the New York Statewide Central Register. This course meets the New York State Education Department mandatory requirements for Training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting. In accordance with Chapter 363 of the Laws of 2018, the Board of Regents adopted amendments to certain sections of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education related to Reports of Child Abuse in an Educational Setting.
    This course also includes updated mandated reporter training requirements. Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2021 amended Social Services Law § 413 to require additional training to include protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually within the New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework.
    The required training consists of a 3-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.

  • In response to the growing number of children being diagnosed with autism, the Legislature amended Sections 3004(4) and (5) of the Education Law to require all persons applying for a teaching certificate or license on or after September 2, 2009, as a special education teacher or as a school administrator who works in special education, to complete coursework or training in the needs of children with autism. This workshop will fulfill the NYSED requirement for Classroom Teaching Certification in all areas of Education. Participants of this course will learn about the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as behavior supports and best instructional practices for supporting individuals with ASD. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will complete a certification of completion application that they can submit to the NYS Education Department along with other relevant forms when they apply for certification.
    The required training consists of a 3-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.
